Early Life and Education

Aleksandra Liashenko was born in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

She began studying classical ballet at the age of 3.5. Between the ages of 5 and 10, she also trained in rhythmic gymnastics, winning numerous competitions and receiving several awards.

At the age of 11, she joined her first international tour with the Kharkiv State Choreographic School, participating in a two-month tour of Taiwan. In the following years, she also toured Spain, Egypt, Japan, Taiwan, and several other countries.

During her early ballet education, Liashenko studied under Tamara Starikova and Tetiana Chepalova, who played an important role in establishing the foundations of her classical training.

At 15, she graduated from the Kharkiv State Choreographic School, enrolled at the Kharkiv State Higher College of Arts named after I. P. Kotlyarevsky, and simultaneously joined the ballet company of the Kharkiv National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after Mykola Lysenko, where she performed approximately 13–15 productions each month.

While continuing her studies at the College, she trained under Svitlana Kolyvanova, Ballet Director of the company, and Teodor Popescu. Their artistic guidance during these formative years contributed significantly to the development of her classical technique, musicality, and stage artistry.

At 16, while touring in Tokyo, Liashenko performed her first leading role, Radish in Cipollino, partnered by Bolshoi Theatre principal dancer Morihiro Iwata. Following her successful debut, she was regularly entrusted with leading roles in the classical repertoire.

At 20, Liashenko received her first international contract and moved to Poland, marking the beginning of her international professional career.

Between 2007 and 2009, she performed with the Baltic State Opera in Gdańsk and the Grand Theatre in Poznań, dancing both classical and contemporary repertoire.

In 2009, she joined the Polish National Ballet in Warsaw as a Soloist. Following her first season, she was promoted to the rank of Principal Dancer, becoming one of the company’s leading artists.

During her years with the Polish National Ballet, she performed an extensive repertoire of classical and contemporary works and collaborated with internationally renowned choreographers.

She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw with a Master of Arts degree in Ballet Pedagogy.

From 2015 to 2020, she continued her international career in Germany, performing with Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg and Staatsoper Hannover, alongside appearances with other international companies.

In 2020, Liashenko joined the Vienna State Ballet (Wiener Staatsballett), where she remained until 2025. During her engagement, she performed leading roles in classical, neoclassical, and contemporary productions.

She collaborated with internationally acclaimed choreographers and was regularly invited to perform as a Guest Principal Ballerina at major international festivals, gala performances, and special productions.

Her career has taken her to prominent theatres and venues worldwide, with performances in France (Paris), the United States (New York, Washington, Houston), Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Egypt, Japan, China, and Taiwan, and, earlier in her career, at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow.

  • In recognition of her outstanding contribution to Polish ballet, Liashenko was granted Polish citizenship by presidential decree signed by President Bronisław Komorowski.

Television and Media

Liashenko has professional experience working in television and filmed productions.

She has collaborated with ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation) on television broadcasts, including appearances in the Vienna New Year’s Concert ballet productions. She has also participated in filmed productions associated with the Vienna Opera Ball at the Vienna State Opera.

Additionally, she has appeared in commercial and promotional video productions in Poland, working closely with directors, camera crews, and production teams in both studio and on-location productions.
